The thought of a barn or farm wedding conjures visions of rustic country romance far removed from the hustle bustle and sophistication of a celebration in the big city. If you yearn for a simpler time and life, then a barn wedding will transport you there, if only for a few hours. Amenities and available services can vary wildly among the available venues that offer the barn wedding experience. Be sure to check with the venue you are considering about what is included and what exactly will need to be provided by you in order to assure a comfortable and pleasant experience for you and your guests. Remember to ask about portable restrooms, access to electricity and climate control.

Castello di Borghese

17150 Route 48
Cutchogue, NY 11935
(631) 734-5111

There are so many reasons to celebrate any occasion at Castello Di Borghese, but if you are searching for a venue with a barn/farm vibe, and that still has easy access to amenities such as restrooms, and climate control, then you will definitely want to explore this location. Castello Di Borghese has been in operation as a vineyard for 40 years—in fact it's the first one established on Long Island—so there is more than a little bit country to enjoy. But when you and your guests are feeling like more than a little bit rock 'n roll, you can party the night away in the barn gallery that is attached to the full-service tasting room, has full electrical service, a mini kitchen and bar, is mere steps from the full service restrooms and near easy parking. It's a barn without the hassle and extra expense of portable lavatories, tents and all the other details that you have to bring onsite to a traditional barn.

Hallockville Museum Farm

6038 Sound Avenue
Riverhead, NY 11901
(631) 298-5292

Hallockville is unique natural staging area. The only "flash" is a shooting star across the dark night sky; the only "glitz" is the reflection of sunlight on the open fields. As almost all East End locations require, a tent is necessary to accommodate larger groups, but the beautifully restored barn provides indoor space for a cocktail party, band, and dance floor. The open beams and warm woods of the barn's interior are a designer's dream. Although eminently suited to a country design, skillful designers can turn this space into just about anything! The tent can be erected to back up against the barn so that the wide barn doors provide a natural opening between the two structures. The grounds are populated by historic buildings, many of which date from the 1700's. The location is convenient as it is close to the Hamptons, LIE, and is in the heart of Wine Country. If you prefer originals to copies, nature to fake waterfalls, and space to walls, Hallockville will speak to your inner self.

Southampton Historical Museum

17 Meeting House Lane
Southampton, NY 11968
(631) 283-2494

Whether you have dreamed of a wedding in a country barn or an elegant Victorian lawn party, the Southampton Historical Museum will suit you perfectly—and all in the heart of Southampton Village. Located just a few blocks from local churches of nearly every denomination, with the ocean so close you hear it, smell it and feel its briny breezes. Guest lodging, public transportation and every service you might need within easy walking distance. This is an historic, romantic venue just perfect to begin your life together.

For an occasion with a more formal style, you and your guests can relax on the spacious front porch of the 1843 Rogers Mansion. Then step through the front door and back in time as you greet your guests in the front parlor, furnished with period pieces, or say your vows in the light and airy music room with a view of the great lawn as your backdrop. If your guest list is intimate, you can celebrate in the music room as well, but any size party will want to spill out onto the lush green lawn and nearby pergola when weather permits.

If your celebration leans to more than a little bit country, then the newly renovated barn, due to be complete for the 2014 season, will appeal to you. Bring in the fiddle players, pull on the cowboy boots and party like it's 1899. This space just begs for an old-fashioned barn dance.

Spaces like this will book early, so contact the Southampton Historical Museum for a tour today to make sure your preferred date is still available. This will definitely be a Hamptons destination wedding to remember!
